چکیده

We present a model of gradient phonotactics that is shown to reduce overall phoneme uncertainty in language when the phonotactic grammar modularized an unsupervised fashion create more than one sub-grammar. Our recurrent neural network (Elman 1990), which, applied two separate, randomly initialized modules corpus Japanese words, learns lexical subdivisions closely correlate with main strata for (Yamato and Sino-Japanese) proposed by Ito Mester (1995). find learned model, which are based on entire prior context phoneme, reveal continuum membership, similar membership Hayes (2016) Native vs. Latinate stratification English.

Perplexity of bi-phone phonotactic models in Korean loanword phonology

The paper presents a corpus study which shows that the probability distribution of bi-phones in a lexicon of Korean loanwords is significantly different from that in a typical Korean lexicon or a lexicon consisting solely of native Korean and Sino-Korean words. This is demonstrated by comparing the perplexity of two types of bi-phone phonotactic models: a model trained on a set of Korean loanwo...

Phonotactic and Lexical Constraints in Speech Recognition

We demonstrate a method for partitioning a large lexicon into small equivalence classes, based on sequential phonetic and prosodic constraints. The representation is attractive for speech recognition systems because it allows all but a small number of word candidates to be excluded, using only gross phonetic and prosodic information. The approach is a robust one in that the representation is re...

Name Perplexity

The accuracy of a Cross Document Coreference system depends on the amount of context available, which is a parameter that varies greatly from corpora to corpora. This paper presents a statistical model for computing name perplexity classes. For each perplexity class, the prior probability of coreference is estimated. The amount of context required for coreference is controlled by the prior core...

Vocabulary optimization based on perplexity

In this paper, we suggest a method to optimize the vocabulary for a given task using the perplexity criterion. The optimization allows us to reduce the size of the vocabulary at the same perplexity of the original word based vocabulary or to reduce perplexity at the same vocabulary size. This new approach is an alternative to phoneme n-gram language model in the speech recognition search stage....
